Dr Mark Martin
Chairman

A former anaesthetist at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington (now part of Imperial College), Dr Mark Martin set up Cavendish Medical Ltd in 2005.

Unable to find his own financial adviser who understood the intricacies of the NHS scheme, Mark realised he could do a better job. He spent one year on sabbatical working in the City and never returned to clinical practice. After working in finance for 17 years including time spent at Citibank, Allianz and Lincoln, Mark co-founded Cavendish and specialises in pensions advice.

He is a competitive tennis player and enjoys football and skiing.

Simon Bruce
Managing Director

Simon Bruce is a co-founder of Cavendish Medical and has been providing retirement advice to senior hospital consultants for over ten years. He is highly skilled at providing solutions to clients’ complex retirement issues including the management of pensions and investments. Simon studied European politics and political science at the University of Leeds and in his spare time enjoys fly-fishing and gardening.

Patrick Convey
Technical Director

Patrick joined Cavendish Medical at its inception in 2005 after studying financial economics at Kingston University. He is an expert at solving challenging pension issues for clients and understanding ever-changing government legislation. As well as supporting a well-known London football team, Patrick enjoys cycling and has competed in many charity fundraising races.

Ade Abiose
Mortgage Consultant

Ade joined Cavendish in 2009 having previously worked in law. An independent consultant specialising in property finance and mortgages, he is adept at putting together innovative solutions to suit each individual client. Ade graduated from Brunel University with a LLB in business finance law and completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, London. Despite an earlier, enjoyable career in property law, he finds the excitement and creativity required in the financial sector much more to his liking!

He is a keen marathon runner and artist.

Hugh Davies
Independent Financial Planner

Hugh joined Cavendish two years ago having worked previously as a private banker for UBS and specialising in investment advice for AWD Chase de Vere. He has many years’ experience advising high-net-worth clients on all areas of their finances, and has made several appearances on television as a financial planning commentator.

He enjoys outdoor pursuits including climbing, mountaineering, kayaking and ultra marathon running.

Edward Bushnell
Compliance Director

Edward joined Cavendish in its first year of trading and provides expert advice on estate planning and wills as well as compliance. He started his career with Grant Thornton and has now worked in compliance for over 16 years. Edward enjoys travel, particularly exploring the British Isles.

David Nguyen
B Bus (Financial Planning) Dip FA
David is an Independent Financial Planner at Cavendish Medical with over 15 years within the financial services industry. His previous roles include business development and client relationship management for Aviva and ING in the UK and Australia. David holds a Bachelor of Business in Financial Planning and Diploma Financial Advising.

Tom Skinner
Independent Financial Planner
Tom has been advising doctors since graduating from Birmingham University in 2003. In 2009 he founded Medinvest, giving independent financial advice to NHS doctors and specialising in helping GPs manage their financial affairs. Tom has also worked as an in-house corporate IFA for an accountancy firm. In 2012, Tom moved to London to join Cavendish where he believes his existing clients would benefit from such a focused approach to financial planning.

Tom played rugby semi-professionally but is more of a social player now, finding injuries take a bit longer to get over as he gets older!
